EVENT: Rochester Flea

Last weekend I went along to the Rochester Flea market at the Gordon Hotel. There used to be a regular flea market under an old car wash in Rochester which stopped running a  good 10 years ago, before I really gained my love for rifling through old treasures, so I was really excited to hear something new had been organised.

The first of a monthly event saw a beautiful collection of artists, vintage clothing, home ware, records and bric-a-brac. There was even a little retro gaming area courtesy of CoFWD and a food stall run by the most amazing lady who was singing to try and entice people to buy chips and reminded me so much of my Grandma.

I didn't have a lot of money to spend but bought a couple of things and also had a good look around the charity shops too.

ART: Wishcandy

Every now & then I'll stumble upon an artist who's magical alternate universe makes me wish I was a two dimensional character, and boy would I love to be a Wishcandy girl. 

Inspired by "retro culture, street fashion, kitsch, beauty, and the grotesque", Wishcandy is the creation of Sashiko Yuen. 

Sashiko describes her work as a 'sassy candy coated horror show', the girls she draws look like modern versions of B Movie babes with pastel hair, rad tattoos and clothes that I find myself constantly lusting after. 

And with collections titled 'Rebel Grrrls' and 'Food Erotica' and her girl gang of characters including Enid Coleslaw & Sailor Moon, Wishcandy is a girl after my own heart.

The blue is gone (mostly) I kinda miss it already :( I've left the ends blue but it needs a trim so they probably wont survive the chop. I'm so terrible with dying my hair, I get bored too quickly!

I started working at Cybercandy again last week! Rob came up to meet me after work one day and we went to get burritos from Chipotle 'cause I've been wanting to go there for ages. They were so good. And gigantic.
